Privacy Policy — Codeglaze for Docs™ & Slides™

Last updated: October 31, 2026

This policy covers the Google Workspace add-on Codeglaze for Docs™ & Slides™ (“the Add-on”), published by Daily Picks (“we”).

Summary

The Add-on works on the file you have open, in your own browser. We do not operate a server, we do not have a database, and we cannot see your documents, your slides, or your code. The Add-on makes no requests to any service other than Google. To learn how the Add-on is used, the side panel sends a few anonymous usage counts to Google Analytics (see “Usage statistics” below); they contain nothing about you, your files or your code.

What the Add-on accesses

Data Why Where it goes
The text you selected in the Google Docs™ or Google Slides™ file you have open (your code) To highlight it and write the highlighted version back Stays in that file. The documents.currentonly and presentations.currentonly scopes mean the Add-on cannot access any other file in your Drive
The paragraphs of the Docs file you have open, only when you press “Find ``` blocks” To find the blocks fenced with three backticks and show you how many there are. Nothing is changed until you confirm Read in your browser session only; not stored
Codeglaze’s own markers in the open file (the name of a box, the code box’s content) To find your boxes again so that Update and Remove styling work Stays in that file

The Add-on does not read the title, comments, images or the rest of your files, and it does not read, store or send your email address or profile. (Google adds the userinfo.email and userinfo.profile permissions to every add-on installed from Google Workspace Marketplace; Codeglaze’s code does not use them.)

What the Add-on stores, and where

  • In your file: for each code box, Codeglaze keeps a copy of the original code so that “Remove styling” can bring it back. In Google Docs™ this copy is kept in the document’s own add-on storage and in named ranges; in Google Slides™ it is kept in the description of the box’s shape. This copy is part of that file, so it is covered by the sharing settings you have chosen in Google. It is never sent to us.
  • In your Google account, for this Add-on: your display settings (language, theme, font, size, line-number choices). They contain no code and no document content.
  • In your Google account, for this Add-on: a “shown” mark for the rating request, and a random number used only for the usage statistics below. Neither is linked to your email address or contains anything about your files.
  • For 30 seconds: a single “run once” flag, used when you choose “Highlight selection (last settings)” from the menu.

We, the developer, cannot read any of this.

What the Add-on does not do

  • It does not send your code, your document or your slides anywhere
  • It does not use advertising or cookies, and it does not track you across other sites or apps (the only analytics are the anonymous usage counts described below)
  • It does not read, create, or modify any other file in your Google Drive
  • It does not sell, share or transfer your data to anyone
  • It does not use your data to develop, improve or train any AI or machine-learning model
  • We cannot read your data. There is no mechanism by which we could

How highlighting works

The highlighting library (highlight.js) is included in the Add-on and runs inside the side panel in your browser. It is not loaded from the internet. The result is sent from the panel to Google Apps Script, which applies the colors to your file.

Error logs

Codeglaze does not collect error logs or error messages and does not send error reports to us. When an action fails, only a short error type (for example “no_selection”) is counted in the usage statistics below. We cannot see your code or your documents. Google may keep its own standard service logs under Google’s privacy policy.

Protection of data

  • We run no server and no database, so there is no copy of your data on our side to protect or to leak
  • Everything the Add-on does happens between your browser and Google, over HTTPS, under your own Google account
  • The Add-on asks only for the narrowest permissions that work: it can open only the one file you are using
  • Nobody at Daily Picks reads user data, and no one else has access to it through the Add-on

Sharing, transfer and disclosure of Google user data

We do not share, transfer, sell or disclose Google user data to anyone. There is no third party in the data path. (The anonymous usage counts below are not Google user data.)

Limited Use

Codeglaze’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide and improve the features described on the product page. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, it is not used to train AI or machine-learning models, and it is not read by people.

Usage statistics (Google Analytics)

To decide what to improve, the side panel sends a few anonymous counts to Google Analytics (operated by Google): which features are used and how often.

  • When: when you open the panel; when you insert, update or inline-highlight code, or highlight ``` or `…` blocks, and when one of these ends with an error; when the rating request is shown, clicked or closed; and when the “More add-ons from Daily Picks” list at the bottom is shown or clicked.
  • What is sent: the name of the event (for example “sidebar_open”), the add-on name and version, whether you are in Google Docs™ or Google Slides™, the panel language (English or Japanese), the kind of action and how many blocks were highlighted, a short error type (for example “no_selection”), which add-on in the list you clicked, and a random number kept in your Google account’s add-on storage (for example “1234567.1761800000”; it is not linked to your email address or Google account). Google Analytics also receives the usual information that any web request carries, such as your IP address, and uses it to estimate your country.
  • What is not sent: your code, the language or theme you chose, your file’s name, ID or content, error messages, or your email address.
  • How: your browser sends it directly to Google Analytics. The Add-on’s server code does not send it. These counts are not Google user data.
  • How long: Google Analytics keeps the event data for 2 months.
  • How to opt out: turn on “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control in your browser, and the panel sends nothing.

Deleting your data

Because the data lives in your own file, you control it directly:

  • To bring back the plain code and remove a box’s saved copy: select the box and click “Remove styling”
  • To remove inline highlighting: select the text and click “Clear highlight on selection”
  • To remove the Add-on’s access entirely: uninstall it from the Google Workspace Marketplace, and remove its access at myaccount.google.com/permissions

We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. The usage statistics in Google Analytics cannot be linked back to you, and they are deleted automatically after 2 months.

Children

The Add-on is intended for general work and study use and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. If a future version adds a feature that contacts another service, this page will say so before that version is released.
