Solvecell for Google Sheets™

A Solver for Google Sheets: choose a cell to maximize, minimize or set to a value, choose the cells it may change, add constraints — and get the answer right in the sidebar.

Reads and writes only cells in this file. The calculation runs inside this panel, and the contents of your file are not sent anywhere. Your variable cells change only when you press Write answer, and Undo puts them back.

What it does

Solvecell works like the Solver add-in you may know from Excel. You pick:

• an objective cell, and whether to maximize it, minimize it, or make it equal to a value;
• the variable cells it may change;
• constraints (<=, >=, =), and whether variables must be whole numbers (int) or 0/1 (bin).

Press Solve and the answer is calculated inside the sidebar with the open-source HiGHS solver. Nothing is written to your sheet until you press Write answer, and Undo puts the previous values back. Each solve stops at a time limit you set (5–300 seconds, default 30) and offers the best answer found so far. It handles linear models (linear programming, integer and 0/1); if your sheet is not linear in the variable cells, it tells you and writes nothing.

How to use

1. Open a file in Google Sheets.
2. Choose Extensions > Solvecell for Google Sheets > Open Solvecell.
3. In the sidebar, enter the objective cell, the variable cells and the constraints (the Use selection buttons fill cells from what you have selected), then press Solve. When it finishes, press Write answer to put the answer in the variable cells; Undo puts them back.

License key

• Paste the key from your Gumroad receipt into License (paid version) at the bottom of the sidebar, then press Activate.
• Only the last four characters of the key are shown.
• To remove it, press Remove the key from this account twice. Free features keep working.

Your data

The add-on reads only the file you have open. The only service other than Google it ever contacts is Gumroad, to check a license key (only the key and the product ID are sent). See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Troubleshooting

• The sidebar does not load. If you are signed in to more than one Google account, open the file in a window signed in to only one account (a limitation of Apps Script add-ons).
• “Not solved: the sheet is not linear.” Solvecell handles linear models only. Check for products of variables, powers, IF, MAX and similar in the cells that depend on the variables.
• “A variable cell holds a formula.” Variable cells must hold plain numbers. Move the formula elsewhere.
• A big model takes a while. The sidebar shows the estimated and remaining time. Reading the sheet is the slow part (the variable cells move temporarily); you can Cancel at any time and your original values are restored. If a run is interrupted (for example the tab is closed), the values are put back the next time you open the sidebar.
• “No answer satisfies all the constraints.” Review the constraints. Nothing was written.

できること

Solvecell は、Excel の「ソルバー」と同じ考え方で使えます。次の3つを選びます。

• 目的のセルと、それを最大にするか・最小にするか・指定の値にするか
• 変えてよい変数のセル
• 制約（<=・>=・=）と、変数を整数（int）や 0/1（bin）にするか

「解く」を押すと、オープンソースの HiGHS で、サイドバーの中で答えを計算します。「答えを書き込む」を押すまでシートには何も書かず、「元に戻す」で前の値に戻せます。1回の計算は、あなたが決めた時間の上限（5〜300秒、既定は30秒）で止まり、そこまでに見つかった最良の答えを使えます。扱えるのは線形のモデル（線形計画・整数・0/1）です。シートが変数に対して線形でないときは、そう伝えて何も書きません。

無料版と有料版

有料版は Gumroad での買い切りです。サブスクリプションではなく、期限もありません。有料版を購入する

使い方

1. Google Sheets でファイルを開きます。
2. 拡張機能 → Solvecell for Google Sheets → Solvecell を開く を選びます。
3. サイドバーで、目的のセル・変数のセル・制約を入れ（「選択範囲を使う」で、選んでいるセルを入れられます）、「解く」を押します。終わったら「答えを書き込む」で変数のセルに答えが入ります。「元に戻す」で戻せます。

ライセンスキー

• Gumroad の購入メールにあるキーを、サイドバーの下の「ライセンス（有料版）」に貼り、「有効にする」を押します。
• 画面にはキーの末尾4文字だけが出ます。
• 外すときは「このアカウントからキーを外す」を2回押します。無料版の機能はそのまま使えます。

データについて

開いているファイルだけを読みます。Google 以外に通信するのはライセンス確認のときだけで、相手は Gumroad、送るのはキーと商品 ID だけです。プライバシーポリシー・利用規約

うまく動かないとき

• サイドバーが読み込まれない：複数の Google アカウントにログインしていると読み込めません。1つだけログインしたウィンドウで開いてください（Apps Script のアドオンの制約）。
• 「線形ではないため、解きませんでした」：Solvecell が扱えるのは線形のモデルだけです。変数に応じて変わるセルに、変数どうしの掛け算・べき乗・IF・MAX などが入っていないか確かめてください。
• 「変数のセルに式が入っています」：変数のセルには数だけを入れます。式は別のセルに移してください。
• 大きなモデルは時間がかかります：サイドバーに目安と残り時間が出ます。時間がかかるのはシートの読み取りです（そのあいだ変数のセルが一時的に動きます）。いつでも「やめる」を押せて、元の値に戻ります。途中で止まった（タブを閉じたなど）ときは、次にサイドバーを開いたときに戻します。
• 「すべての制約を満たす答えがありません」：制約を見直してください。何も書き込んでいません。
